Research

I measure trace metals in marine particles to learn about the sources, sinks, and internal cycling of these elements in the ocean. I am particularly interested in the chemical properties that affect particulate iron (pFe) and influence its bioavailability for phytoplankton in the ocean.

I am heavily involved in the international GEOTRACES project, which allows me to collaborate with researchers all over the world to develop a more comprehensive view of chemical fluxes in the world’s oceans.
